Thomas Graham
Social Worker
I joined the military at 16, serving with Scots DG in various locations, including Germany, Canada and the Middle East.
When I returned to Civvy Street, I worked as a mechanic in Renfrewshire working on heavy plant and buses; I stayed there until 2005, leaving as the depot manager. I then returned to education and studied at West Lothian College before completing an Honours degree in Social Work at the University of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate at Stirling University in Child Welfare and Protection.
I have worked in various positions since I qualified, including 2 local authorities; one was in their child protection team, and in 2015, I moved to work with Fosterplus.
I was a panel member with JMT from June 2006 until July 2015 only leaving when I took up the post at Fosterplus.
I am passionate about improving the life experiences of care-experienced young people and helping them reach their potential.
To relax I enjoy spending time with my children. I am also a dog person and have 2 working cocker spaniels; I have bred Labradors and spaniels for almost 30 years. I am also a diving instructor, and while studying, I spent my summers working in the Canaries at a dive school, I still like to dive at every opportunity.
