Ben Furlong
Social Worker
My name is Ben Furlong and I have joined JMT Care Services as a social worker.
I was born in Waterford, Ireland, but I have lived in Scotland for the past thirty six years.
I have a long history of working in social work across a range of services including residential secure care and fostering.
I have worked with another independent fostering agency for the past 12 years in a variety of different roles. However, my passion is working with carers and the children and young people they make part of their family.
In my spare time I like to spend time relaxing with my wife and enjoying the company of family and friends. I love to travel and I have been lucky to have visited many wonderful places, but there are still a lot more places to see. I like football (watching it these days), most types of music, walking in the countryside or on a beach and relaxing with a good book.I also love my garden and spend many happy hours looking after it. I like to grow my own vegetables and I love experimenting with new ones. I also love to cook. I told my wife many years ago that I find it therapeutic – one of the biggest mistakes of my life. !
I am really excited about this new opportunity. I have had a really interesting induction week and have met some inspiring people. I am looking forward to getting started and I hope to meet as many carers, children and young people as I can soon
