Claire McClafferty

Depute Head of Fostering and Young Adult Placements

Claire qualified as a social worker in 1988 and has experience of working in both the voluntary and statutory sectors. She was previously employed in local authority child care and generic practice in South Lanarkshire and Central Scotland.  She also spent six years working for an adoption agency in Glasgow.  She has achieved post graduate qualifications  in Child Protection and Permanency Planning and, more recently completed Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy training.

She is passionately committed to improving the life experiences and opportunities for looked after children and is proud of our achievements in creating new families for so many children and young people who have experienced disruption, trauma and loss. Claire works full time in our Livingston office and has recently been promoted to the role of Deputy Service Manager with a focus on Continuing Care for young people aged 18+.

In her free time, Claire is busy supporting her four children to pursue their interests which include swimming, running, horse riding and dancing.  She has a long wish list of places she wants to go and things she wants to do…if she ever finds the time to do it!
