Dr James Urquhart

James began working as a Psychotherapist in a) a mental health outpatient Clinic and b) an NHS Child and Family Psychiatric Unit, both in Scotland. After 10 yrs he left for America where he joined the private sector and gained extensive business experience at Senior Management level in the Oil and Gas Industry. Returning to Scotland, he completed a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Ph.D in organisational psychology, lectured in Strategy at the University of St. Andrews Management School and eventually became Head of a University Graduate School of Business in Ireland.

He is an experienced business/organisational consultant and over 20 yrs has worked with the Boards of major public, private and social enterprise organisations on managing change projects. He currently works as a) a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice; (b) a business/organisational consultant and (c) a founding Trustee/Director (former Chair) of a major Irish company limited by guarantee with charitable status.
