Job post summary

We are seeking a reliable and committed Cleaner to join our team at a residential school supporting young people with special educational and social needs. This position is term-time only, with an essential deep clean requirement during school holidays.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across various campus locations. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Senior Manager and may be assigned to specific areas of the school.

A full driving licence is essential due to the school’s location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and periodic cleaning tasks in public and residential areas.
  • Manage domestic requirements, including toilet, kitchen, and linen facilities.
  • Work independently and flexibly to accommodate school and office routines.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in your assigned areas.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and use cleaning materials safely.
  • Support other cleaning staff in communal areas as required.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff.

  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Trustworthy, mature, and reliable
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to interact positively with young people
  • Demonstrates initiative and attention to detail

Skills & Experience

  • Previous cleaning experience (domestic or industrial) preferred
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures and safe use of equipment
  • Experience in environments with young people is an advantage

Other Requirements

  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • Must be willing to work flexibly around school schedules
  • Subject to Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check
  • Employment references, including from current or most recent employer, will be required.

Please note that all roles within Moore House Group are subject to annual salary benchmarking. As a result, the salary for this post will be reviewed and is expected to increase from April 2026 in line with organisational benchmarking outcomes.
