We’re pleased to share that Main House has received a Grade 5 (Very Good) following its recent unannounced inspection by the Care Inspectorate.

Inspectors spent time in the home over three days, speaking with staff and managers, observing daily life, and reviewing practice. What came ...through strongly was a service where young people feel safe, cared for, and supported to grow.

The report highlights the positive, trusting relationships between young people and staff, describing how a stable team and reduced staff turnover have helped create a sense of continuity and security. Inspectors noted that “providing a loving environment was a high priority and was key to the service’s success.”

An external professional described Main House as having a “stable, child-centred approach that prioritises the young person’s safety, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes.” Strong leadership, effective risk management, and thoughtful planning were all recognised as contributing to positive experiences and outcomes for young people.

The inspection also highlighted the impact of staff encouragement and support in helping young people engage in education, build life skills, and stay active and involved, alongside high-quality support for both physical and mental health.

This Grade 5 result reflects a service that continues to develop, learn, and put young people at the heart of everything it does. We’re incredibly proud of the team at Main House and the care they provide every day.
