Helen Fraser

Social Worker

Helen completed her Diploma in Social Work in 1991, and has completed other training and development relevant to her roles as both a residential child care manager and a supervising social worker.

She started her career in residential childcare, working in a large residential school as both a key worker and assistant unit manager. She then worked in Children and Families for two different local authorities, holding a statutory case load and having experience of Child Protection. She then became a Manager for the Borders in their Children’s Unit before working for another independent fostering agency. Helen joined JMT in January 2021 and is the supervising social worker for the Dundee area. She has completed Level 1 and Level 2 in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Practice and supports her allocated carers in using the principles of DDP in their day-to-day work with children. Helen’s passion is in supporting carers to work closely with the children they care for and helping the children reach their full potential,  promoting strong attachments and working in a therapeutic way with trauma.  When she’s not working, Helen enjoys spending time with family and friends, cares for her horse, and enjoys long hacks over the hills in the lighter nights.
